from the world of shoes"

Shoes Article by Richard Reese
Sometimes smart, often silly I hope you enjoy these noteworthy
stories from the world of footwear.
Less couch potato – more exercise!
This one is from the ‘smart’ category. Turns out a student
at a prominent university in London has come up with a pair of shoes
that ‘earns’ time in front of the TV for its wearer.
Huh? Here is how it works. A mechanism in the sole of the shoe logs
time as the shoes are used (they must be moving). This mechanism
then hooks up to the TV and once the accured time has been spent,
the TV shuts off.
Cinderella never paid $2 million for her glass slipper
Each year Stuart Weitzman – designer of some of the world’s
most sought after shoes – designs a special pair of shoes that
are worn by an Oscar nominee on that special night. The celebrity
chosen to worn them is usually a rising star who is in the spotlight.
Price tag for these shoes? Up to $2 million!!
Soccer star David Beckham’s ‘spicy’ new shoes.
A new shoe line by Adidas features the thumbprints of this English
soccer (err…football) star. The new shoes are called
the ‘Predator Pulse Thumbprint” expanding on the line
of Predator Pulse shoes introduced earlier. The design of
these shoes has Beckham’s actual thumbprint….not sure
why they chose that but the bet here is that they sell like hot-cakes,
that is if he doesn’t quit missing penalty kicks!
What do Reeboks and Daisy Duke’s have in common?
Answer: Maybe Jessica Simpson. Not only does Jessica light up the
screen in the upcoming Dukes of Hazard movie but rumor has it that
her clothing line aptly named ‘JS’ designs is talking
with Reebok about a shoe to go along with the clothes. The sultry
Simpson would certainly rev up a shoe from Reebok (or anything
else for that matter).

Naked but for the shoes
In a feel (and look) good story, super models Kate Moss and Rachel
Hunter posed in nothing but Jimmy Choo shoes and jewelry to help
raise money for the Elton John Aids Foundation. Also posing
in the buff was Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. The photos
are used in a book called Four Inches making reference to
the height of the stiletto heels the ladies wore. The book sales
will raise money and eyebrows….both a worthy cause!
Pamela Anderson is socially responsible
This gorgeous celebrity has used her power and resources to do something
good for the animal world! Added to her already popular clothing
line is a line of non-leather shoes. A long-time member of PETA
(people for the ethical treatment of animals) and a huge animal
rights supporter, Pamela has taken action and created this line
of shoes which should not only be popular but help educate the
public about PETA and their work
